Breaking Changes

Privacera Air Gap Installation

The Air Gap Setup process is now revamped to make it more simpler and efficient. For more details, See Prerequisites for Air Gap.

Observability Stack Upgrade

Privacera has upgraded its observability stack to enhance monitoring, alerting, and performance insights. The stack now includes Grafana, Prometheus, Tempo, Loki, OpenTelemetry, and Pyroscope, providing comprehensive visibility into system health and performance.
This is enabled by default when Privacera is installed in AWS env. You have to run upgrade-monitoring once you move to this release or any other release after this. For more details on customization and best practices check Privacera Monitoring section.

Behavioral Changes

With this release the formats of all 4 installation variables PRIV_MGR_PACKAGE, PRIV_MGR_IMAGE, PRIVACERA_BASE_DOWNLOAD_URL and PRIVACERA_IMAGE_TAG have changed when you upgrade Privacera Manager. See Upgrades section for more details.

Improved Ranger Metrics Dashboard for Better Performance Monitoring

The Ranger Metrics Dashboard has been enhanced with new insights and expanded performance tracking capabilities.

The updated dashboard now includes detailed metrics such as tags metrics , policies and userstore. It also provides visibility into cache statistics for ServiceTag, Policy, and User objects, along with system-wide statistics on users, groups, and role mappings.

Additionally, we have included monitoring for plugin interactions, memory, and CPU usage to help optimize Ranger performance. These enhancements enable better observability, troubleshooting, and performance tuning, providing deeper insights into system health and efficiency.

Grafana Dashboard Structure Revamp

The Grafana Dashboard structure has been revamped to make it more organized and intuitive. In the new structure we have:

  • Application-Dashboards → Contains dashboards for all Privacera applications.
  • Common-Dashboards → Contains dashboards related to common information across applications.
  • Infra-Dashboards → Focuses on Kubernetes cluster-level metrics and infrastructure monitoring.

This new structure enhances clarity and makes it easier to navigate dashboards based on use cases.

Payload Size and Chunking Updates in Audit Server and Fluentd

Increased the default payload size limit for Audit Server and Fluentd to 100MB. Increased default Fluentd chunk size to 100MB for improved data handling. Maximum 100MB chunks will now be stored in the Fluentd destination.
