Policy Validity Period

In digital security and access management, controlling when access is granted or denied is as important as determining who receives that access. This section defines policy behavior related to time-based access control, specifying how policies can be configured to grant or deny access to users, groups, or roles during defined time periods.

Overview

  • A policy can be configured to be effective only for a specified period of time. Start and end dates/times can be defined (to the minute) with a selectable time zone. Use the Add Validity Period button in the upper-right corner to set a validity period for the policy.

  • The Validity Period feature is supported across all policy types.

Policy Evaluation

When a validity period is defined in a policy, access is granted or revoked according to the specified time range. Once the end time is reached, the policy expires, and an alert message is displayed in the user interface (UI).

The Validity Period can also be combined with other access conditions defined in the policy to create more granular control over access behavior.
